Easy Street - Jazz

Easy Street started out as a quartet, but is now a " when we have time " recording project. :)

These two songs below were recorded live in the studio setting to the right with one mic. We just happened to have it in the right place to get a decent mix. We also had some extra help on these recordings since it was just the three of us that day.

John: sax, Pete: drums, Mike:paino/bass, Sam: (10 yrs) guitar, Alicia: (8yrs) egg shaker.

MIDI Files

Here are some MIDI sequences I put together. Load them up in your favorite sequencer to speed them up or slow them down, mute tracks, etc.

Music Notation

LilyPond is one of the better music notation programs I've seen. It allows much more control over the score as opposed to Cakewalk or Cubase. Here's a sample I worked up of the keyboard solo in From The Beginning by Emerson Lake and Palmer. This is the LilyPond input file. If you uncomment the midi section, lilypond will produce a midi file. Otherwise you should see the normal output:
	lilypond from-the-beginning.ly
	GNU LilyPond 2.10.33
	Processing `from-the-beginning.ly'
	Parsing...
	Interpreting music... [8][16][24][29]
	Preprocessing graphical objects...
	Layout output to `from-the-beginning.ps'...
	Converting to `from-the-beginning.pdf'...

Here's an arrangement for Peg with some keyboard bass.
